Me Taking On The Monster.
I visited St. Maarten's DIVI LITTLE BAY RESORT in the Fall of 2006 with my girlfriend. The accomdations were great. We enjoyed all we could find to do such as eating lavish meals, touring the island, playing games, early morning walks with Ian, loungeing on the balcony and on the beach. Of course, we went shopping and to the casino a few times. We did not have a car but, the resort visitors invited us to go with them and thus, we made new friends who had come there, from many different places.
When I decided to visit in 2007, there was no one available to come with me and reluctantly I traveled alone. I really did not know if I would have a good time by myself. I soon found I was not by myself and again enjoyed the lavish meals, walks along the beach, swimming, sailing on the "tall ship", singing (karaoke), visiting the casinos, and of course shopping. Again I did not have a car. I found a taxi driver however, who was very helpful when I needed transportation and he made me feel very safe. He always offered to return to take me back to the resort.
One of my most memorable experiences was jumping into the water from the "tall ship" and making it to shore with snorkle gear and floatation gear and with the crewman holding my hand. I did manage to swim back to the ship without him holding my hand. I had gained the courage by jumping into the water the first time in spite of my fear.
The resort had many planned activities I could participate in and win prizes. I won several bottles of wine; one was for my "limbo" prowess. a necklace, breakfast and lunch certificates, and a two night vacation. WOW WHEW
