Marine fun for both the Inexperienced and the Enthusiast...
Our beautiful Caribbean Dual flag Island,
St Maarten, has 36 white sandy beaches, ranging from large popular beaches where numerous water sports are available, including windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing and boating, to small secluded beaches where visitors can just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
All water sports are very popular here (with both the locals and visitors) and include jet skiing, parasailing,
sailing and snorkeling. Visitors to St Maarten can enjoy these water sports, or just lounge around on any one of the stunning beaches.
A visit to St Maarten, along with explorations to its other adjacent
Caribbean islands will give even the most committed water sports enthusiast the vacation of a lifetime.
Whatever the water sport that gets your juices running, it can be found on St Maarten.
In fact your entire vacation can be spent on, above or below the water, days filled with water adventures ranging from the breathtaking views and spectacular beauty of the underwater world while diving, surrounded by thriving reefs and marine life during a day trip adventure, or (for the more experienced) in exploring the ghostly hulls of underwater wrecks during a night dive.
There are many reefs within a short boat trip from shore which are ideal for both the snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiast.
Then there are the "on" and "above" the water sports like surfing (some of the best surfing beaches in the Caribbean are on St Maarten) plus sailing, wind surfing, parasailing, boating, kayaking and jet skiing etc.
So, you have many choices to spend your vacation, "wet and wild" playing the many water sports, or...
And then there are the beaches...
The beaches of St Maarten look like scenery right out of a calendar. Many facilities are available on the beaches, including sun beds and umbrellas, together with bus stops, parking and food outlets.
Due to its Colonial history St Maarten has a "French" side and a "Dutch" side, and the names of the beaches reflect the Colonial heritage of that part of the island. Names like "Pointe De bluff", "Baie Rouge" or "Baie aux Prunes" on the French side and "Cupecoy Bay" on the Dutch side.
Whatever the origin of their names many of the white sandy beaches on St Maarten are ideal for all manner of water sports, and for surfers looking for that perfect wave St Maarten offers plenty of opportunities to experience it.
However, the pristine ocean waters surrounding St Maarten provide so many different water sport and recreational options for the budding water baby and seasoned water sports enthusiasts alike that the only time you will want to be out of the water is when you sleep at night (after experiencing the nightlife, another story :-))
So, for the Caribbean water sports enthusiast St Maarten is the island that has it all!
