Green House Restaurant...

Green House opened in 1986 and has been providing excellent service for more than two decades. The owner now has two outlets on St Maarten and another in St Thomas, but for this article I will concentrate on the Founding spot in Philipsburg.

I was first drawn there by a great friend and employee of the green house restaurant when I first organized a Tuesday night party trip there. His name is Carlose and he has built quite a reputation with his customers. (a good reputation) :-)

Though the Tuesday night parties no longer exist, Carlos understands the meaning of great service and delivers just that. I equate him to the attitude of those bubbly youngsters found at the regular fast food chains across the globe.

Green house restaurant is nicely positioned at the head of Philipsburg at the old fishing village. Right next door is the famous Bobby's marina that caters to the many vessels that either dock or refuel there on a daily basis. Cruise ship guests in particular love the location since it is one of the few restaurants that sit on the board walk end of the strip on the way to the cruise facility. I especially love its proximity to Philipsburg and the beautiful white sand beach of great bay.

Right outside its doors is one dock that tenders the cruise ships for more convenience. The busy out door seating offers a glimpse of the surrounding hills and its hustling ambiance sets the stage of festivity as an army of locals and visitors populate the property.

The interior is attractive and cosy with the feel of a European Pub while at the same time its numerous doors provide an almost open air effect.

The location of its huge bar makes everything accessible and creates sense of ownership prevails among its patrons.

The owners claim the right to the number one seller of certified Angus beef in St Maarten and St Thomas. I have not had the beef myself but will try it out. However Carlos tells me that their number one selling Item is their delicious lobster served with the special garlic sauce made with secret ingredients.

You can find anything found on typical restaurant menu but of course what makes the green house stand out is their unique way of food preparation. You can expect to find Steak, ribs lobster and fresh Caribbean fish. They are open Lunch through dinner.

Green house also offers various activities such as the very popular tuesday night 2 for 1 party, lobster night and Alaskan King Crab Night. They are also available for parties. Of course the Tuesday night party is one of my favorites.
