Le Galion Beach
Kite Surfing and shallow calm waters...

Le Galion Beach - Protected from the east coast surf...

Le Gallion Beach, better known as (coconut grove) is an extremely calm place to be especially if you've got children.

It sits on the east coast of the Island but just like Pinel Island this beautiful long white sand beach is protected by the small rock peninsula that blocks the rage of the Atlantic Ocean.

I like the idea of being able to walk knee high for quite some meters into the ocean. Because of the water level, the temperature of the water gets to be noticeably warm.

I've been asked on numerous occasions if there is a volcanic feed or even an electricity plant near by.

Le Gallion beach is a stones throw away from the world famous Orient Beach and can be accessed in just five minutes walk at its nearest points. The breeze is relentless and if not careful you'll be asleep in minutes.

On any given day you will find a host of wind assisted water sports. The more popular ones are kite surfing and wind surfing.

This serves the activity just perfect because of the water's tranquility and the Atlantic breezes that swoop over the peninsula and down into the beach.

There are clearly two sections to this beach. One is organized with a Restaurant and seating and the other is simply deserted. On both ends there are many sea grape trees providing shade for the full length of the beach.

I think that makes the beach unique. Everything you can ask for is on one side and the other is more like a relaxing non active area.

There is a wooden raft out in the water for your enjoyment. On most beaches the owner of the trampoline or similar charges for its use.

The view of the ocean and the rolling waves on the distant reef compels the eye to peer further into the distance where you’ll see the Island of St Barths. (the land of the rich and famous)

Le Gallion beach comes alive on weekends. On special holidays the beach is packed to capacity. The good news is that there is ample parking.

The excitement soars as car after car makes its way down to the ever loved spot.

On Easter Monday the icing is put on the cake. I swear I don't want to be there for one reason... Leaving the beach on that day seems to be a bit of a problem.

It's not a catastrophe but I don't like traffic. Easter is special here for many reasons.

It's the time of campers. I remember checking into the Le Gallion Beach two days ahead of time in order that I may catch a piece of the sand.

So remember to plan early if you want to visit this spot during Easter. If you don't plan to camp out for the two days, all you need to do is leave your accommodation by seven am and you should be fine.

If you're lucky, you may see some of the local bands that frequently perform here at Le Galion beach.

If you want to kill two birds with one stone, you can take a trip to the butterfly farm and nearby you will find a horse stables on your way into Le Galion beach.
