Secluded is the word that comes to mind when you think of this beach. This not so well known beach is hidden away in its own special spot out of the easy reach of residents and visitors to the Island.
Of course as your insider guide, my job is to push it to the limits in an effort reveal all the available sweetness of the island. Now I know every one loves the beach, but at the same time every one has their own requirements.
The location itself gives way to the thought of being special and not bombarded. The 400 meter or so long beach is shared by two hotels.
It's crystal aqua blue waters sucks you into a trance as you immediately forget about returning home.
Their guests enjoy the Idea of having a beach just outside their door. Divi little Bay and The Belair Resort is probably one of the best places on the island in terms of going to a resort with its own beach.
Many first time visitors end up buying a time share or returning as a transient guest at these two resorts just for the location.
This beach, just like Great Bay Beach shares a similar history. They both stood ground as Pieter Stuyvesant and his battalion fraught against the Spanish in previous battles in an attempt to concur the Island.
Pieter Stuyvesant in one of his battles lost a leg on the mountain just behind the bay in the posh neighborhood that is today known as Belair.
If you fancy a little hike or a bit of history, Little Bay provides access to Ft. Amsterdam located about 5 minutes walk from the beach to the top of the hill.
Remains such as the old artillery room, water systern, Cannons and other artifacts can still be seen today.
It's simply an excellent spot and should be tried at least once. From the top of the fort hill the southern neighboring islands can be seen. Saba, Statia and St Kitts reveal all their beauty on a clear day.
It provides a 360 degree view of the surrounding area including the cruise facility which seems as though you're looking down on the top of it.
Back on the beach you'll have access to the bars and restaurants. Go meet the staff and get acquainted as I've often done. The friendliness and warmth compels me to return over and over again.
The beach staff works earnestly to make sure that you're well taken care of with umbrellas, beach chairs. Don’t forget the water sports department headed by Mr. Martin George. Now it's time to snorkel.
I have snorkeled at little bay on numerous occasions have enjoyed it immensely. Well, one might say that I like to snorkel....so what's the big deal.
The deal is that... While others get trapped into booking a dive or snorkel trip, you can simply take a cab from he cruise facility and be here in ten minutes with or without your gear and enjoy the day. On a good day I've seen squids, turtles, stingrays and much more.
There is a full service water sports department on property with access to anything from snorkel gear to wave runners. In fact there is a new glass bottom boat on that resort that draws the attention of even the aliens.
Anyway, I rate this beach high on the list for location with a good mix. Stores are located on the main corridors of the complex.
Jewelry, deli, Souvenir and signature shops are the main attraction. Taxis are available all day and night at the front desk. Look out for me at Little bay
Well I surely hope you enjoy this one. Be sure to post your comments on the "have your say" page of this web site.
