Unlike most beaches Simpson Bay is unbelievably quiet. This mile long beach offers pure tranquility from start to finish. It is accessible from the Simpson Bay neighborhood at three different points. This is probably one of the Island's best guarded secrets.

If you're the type looking for absolutely no crowds then this beach is the place for you.

For some unknown reason Simpson Bay beach seems to have done something mystical to keep away the hoards of people looking for beautiful beaches.

I'm sure that the residents of this area would love to keep it that way for many years.

However, since it is a public beach, I think I'm safe in introducing you to this spot. I make it a point to visit this beach when I'm looking for a bit of romance.

Now let me repeat myself again. This beach is known for its peace. So you may want to observe, and maintain such behavior if and when you do visit.

Like all the others it's cleanliness and turquoise waters stand out the moment you set eyes on its shores. On one end of the beach there is a visible wreck that protrudes out from the water that offers some snorkeling for the few inhabitants who visit.

There is no service on this beach what so ever. You'll need to walk with your sandwich and water. I take the opportunity to walk with my BBQ grill and spend the entire day picnic style.

St Maarten is known for its mega yachts. You can sit back relax and watch them as they line up and filter one by one through the Simpson Bay bridge.

The opening times of the bridge may vary but can be up to 3 or 4 times per day so plan and enjoy.

Nearby there are numerous hotels such as the Pelican resort, The Atrium, Royal palm, Flamingo Sunterra and many small hostels and motels. Simpson bay is rapidly becoming self reliant.

Every thing is accessible near Simpson Bay beach including banks, supermarkets, gasoline stations and night life just to name a few.

In other words you can stay an entire vacation at this location and not have to be bothered about anything. With no traffic on the streets you'd arrive from the airport to Simpson bay in just about three minutes.
